NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans women’s basketball program has added another key non-conference game to its schedule as the Privateers will head to Starksville to take on Southeastern Conference (SEC) power Mississippi State on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. CT at Humphrey Coliseum.
The game is the first meeting between the two programs since 2014 and will be featured for fans to watch live on SEC Network Plus.
Mississippi State was ranked sixth in the Associated Press Poll and seventh in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Poll, respectively. The Bulldogs are led by the All-American duo of Jessika Carter and Rickea Jackson, both of whom earned Preseason All-SEC honors and were named National Player of the Year candidates for both the Naismith Trophy and the Wade Trophy.
The Privateers are coming off one of the best seasons in program history. New Orleans made the Southland Postseason Tournament for the fourth straight year and posted the program’s highest win total since 1992-93. Included in that mark were 12 Southland victories, the most conference wins for the program in a single-season in school history.
The Privateers last win over the Bulldogs came on Dec. 16, 1992.
New Orleans last took down a SEC opponent with its 69-64 victory at Ole Miss last season.
